Wedding Bells Among the Blooms | Shropshire Petals Wedding Photography

There are some places that just make you think, yep… this would make a pretty brilliant wedding venue.

Shropshire Petals is definitely one of them.

Juan and Lucy together among the colourful flower fields at Shropshire Petals

I recently joined the team at Shropshire Petals for a wedding photography workshop, with three beautiful styled setups dotted around the flower fields. We had just ten minutes at each one to photograph the details and, more importantly, our gorgeous couple, Juan and Lucy.

And honestly? They were an absolute dream.

Meet Juan & Lucy

Juan looked ridiculously dapper in his black suit and bow tie, while Lucy wore the most beautiful white wedding dress, complete with gorgeous buttons and the prettiest bow on the back.

But it was the two of them together that really stole the show.

They were giggly, affectionate, playful and completely up for anything. They spent the day laughing, cuddling, kissing and generally being very much in love. Which made my job very easy.

Some of my favourite photographs are the simplest ones — the moments where they're just looking at each other, leaning in for a kiss or having a little moment together.

Nothing overly posed. Nothing complicated.

Just two people enjoying each other.

Flower fields & a whole lot of colour

The flower fields were absolutely bursting with colour, and there were some gorgeous setups to photograph throughout the day.

My favourite was definitely the boho seating area, with beautiful vintage furniture and a stunning floral arch. It was relaxed, colourful and just a little bit magical.

The only downside? It was HOT. As in, temperatures-in-the-30s, middle-of-a-heatwave HOT.

Juan and Lucy were absolute troopers, even while getting a little sunburnt and desperately topping up their sun cream between shots. And somehow they still looked this good.

You don't need a traditional wedding venue

I think that's one of my biggest takeaways from days like this: You can have beautiful wedding photographs almost anywhere.

A castle, a flower field, a registry office and a local park… it really doesn't matter.

I've photographed weddings where we've headed to a nearby park after the ceremony and created some of my favourite photographs of the day. It's not necessarily about having the perfect backdrop. It's about the two of you, how you feel together and what happens when you stop worrying about the camera. And that's exactly what I love photographing.
